Exceeding the speed limit, fines and Demerit points
If you are caught by Hawk radar you accumulate the following demerit points in addition to a fine. Demerit points are not accumulated with a Speed Camera fine.
Less than 10 Kph $30, 10 Demerit Points
Between 11 Kph and 15 Kph $60, 20 Demerit Points
Between 16 Kph and 20 Kph $90, 20 Demerit Points
Between 21 Kph and 25 Kph $120, 35 Demerit Points
Detween 26 Kph and 30 Kph $160, 35 Demerit Points
Between 31 Kph and 35 Kph $210, 40 Demerit Points
Between 36 Kph and 40 Kph $280, 50 Demerit Points
Between 41 Kph and 45 Kph $370
Between 46 Kph and 50 Kph $490
If you are unfortunate enough to accumulate 100 points in one year, you lose you licence for six months.
If you accumulate 100 points in two years you lose your licence for three months.
You can also receive demerit points (from 20 to 50) for other non-speeding offences.
